i've struggled a lot over the years with how to have a healthy online presence. after many iterations of personal websites, i decided to create this site for two primary purposes: 1. so that new and old friends can check in on what i'm up to, especially given that i'm notoriously inactive on most social medias (see also: [[the strange shape of my care]] for more details about my responsiveness, or lack thereof) 2. to share, in 'public', my half-baked thoughts and curations around topics i care about, most of which i'm usually too nervous to share in any of the Public Squares that each demand, in their own way, a sense of completeness, polish, and palatable coherence. - i'm particularly inspired by a line in Le Guin's *The Dispossessed*: "It is of the nature of idea to be communicated: written, spoken, done. **The idea is like grass. It craves light, likes crowds, thrives on crossbreeding, grows better for being stepped on.**" as much as posting online scares me to the core, the possibility of [[finding the others]] through sharing ideas excites me profoundly.
